Overview
What they do
Africa GoGreen Fund (AGG) is a pan-African investment fund focused on renewable energy and energy efficiency. It was initiated by KfW on behalf of the German government to promote private investments that mitigate or reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The fund currently has USD 138 million in total commitments, with plans to grow capital commitments to USD 200 million, and includes a USD 3.4 million Technical Assistance Facility. Africa GoGreen Fund is managed by Cygnum Capital Group through its Dutch-domiciled AIFM Cygnum Capital B.V. and UK-domiciled portfolio manager Cygnum Capital Group.

What they look for
AGG's mandate is to spur greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions by financing corporate and industrial entities, local financial institutions, and businesses developing eligible Energy Efficiency (EE) and Renewable Energy (RE) projects across Africa. The fund looks for commercially viable climate solutions that deliver measurable environmental impact alongside strong commercial performance. A strict qualifying benchmark is applied: investments must result in a reduction of GHG emissions and/or an improvement of energy efficiency of at least 25% relative to a defined baseline.
