Archean Capital Partners was established in 2017 as a joint venture between wealth management firm Veritable LP (now part of Pathstone) and Moelis Asset Management. The firm specializes in seeding emerging managers, providing the critical initial capital, operational advice, and infrastructure necessary for new private equity firms to launch and reach an institutional first close. Across its active lifespan, Archean committed over $500 million to six first-time funds. While Archean continues to manage its legacy portfolio, its founding partners have recently evolved the strategy into two active successor platforms-Moelis Catalyst Partners and Cambrian Capital Management-which continue the exact same mandate of anchoring debut private equity funds.
