Overview

What they do
Founded in 2019 by Ian Charles and David "Doc" O'Connor, Arctos Partners pioneered the institutionalization of professional sports ownership. They are the only institutional investor approved to hold equity across all five major North American sports leagues (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS) and several European soccer federations. In 2023, the firm expanded its mandate by launching Arctos Keystone, a strategy dedicated to providing growth capital, financing, and liquidity solutions to alternative asset managers. Following its rapid growth to approximately $15 billion in AUM, the firm agreed to be acquired by KKR in early 2026, a move designed to scale its platform globally and tap into KKR's balance sheet for massive venue financing and league-level deals.
