Overview
What they do
The Adaptation SME Accelerator Project (ASAP) was a public initiative led by private equity firm The Lightsmith Group, supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), Conservation International, and the Inter-American Development Bank. It was designed to identify, integrate, and accelerate small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) in emerging markets that provide climate adaptation and resilience solutions. Partnering with Village Capital, ASAP ran accelerator cohorts to provide technical assistance, mentorship, and investment readiness training to bridge the massive funding gap in climate adaptation. The project officially concluded in September 2024.

What they look for
ASAP focused on identifying and accelerating startups at the intersection of impact, inclusion, and investability that provide market-based, contextualized solutions to critical climate adaptation and resilience challenges. They specifically targeted solutions that help communities and businesses adapt to the physical impacts of climate change (e.g., extreme weather, sea-level rise, food insecurity).
