What they do

asc impact invests in selected agricultural and forestry projects in Sub-Saharan Africa with the asc impact forestry fund. In doing so, significant amounts of CO2 are sequestered and a positive impact on local communities is achieved. Within Sub-Saharan Africa, the investment opportunities are divided into different countries. These include, for example, Angola, Mozambique and Ethiopia. Over a period of ten years, the projects will sequester about 2.4 million tonnes of CO2 annually by reforesting a fallow area of up to 97,000 hectares, generating a financial return of 19% p.a.

What they look for

ASC Impact operates under the motto "Maximum impact for excellent returns." Their thesis centers on capitalizing on the unique economic and environmental conditions of Sub-Saharan Africa-specifically low land lease costs, optimal rainfall and soil fertility, and high local demand for timber and food. They aim to deliver a net IRR of >20% p.a. while sequestering millions of tons of CO2 and creating thousands of local jobs.
