Bayern Kapital (founded at the end of 1995) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the LfA Foerderbank Bayern (Bavaria‘s development bank). Bayern Kapital’s objective is to finance research and development as well as the market launch of new products, product diversifications, and expansion of the market share.

They focus on sustainable innovation and long-term success over quick returns. They seek high-tech, deep-tech, and life sciences startups with a demonstrably successful, scalable business model based on innovative technology. They heavily favor companies with defensible intellectual property, unique selling points, and clear competitive advantages. Crucially, the company must be located in or have a significant operational presence in Bavaria. They also require an independent private lead investor to co-invest on equal terms.
