Green Investment Group (GIG) is a specialist green investor within Macquarie Asset Management, focused on accelerating the global transition to net zero. Initially launched by the UK Government in 2012 as the Green Investment Bank, it was the worlds first institution of its type. Acquired by Macquarie in 2017, GIG has expanded to become one of the worlds largest green investors, with a presence in over 25 markets. The group invests in both established renewable technologies like wind and solar, and emerging green technologies, working across all stages of the project lifecycle from development to operation.

What they look for

GIG’s mission is to accelerate the green transition by deploying capital across the entire asset lifecycle-from early-stage development to construction and operations. They believe the scale of the energy transition requires not just funding existing projects, but creating new project pipelines where none exist, often by creating standalone portfolio companies focused on specific technologies.
