Région Île-de-France is the economic and political governing body of the Paris metropolitan area, representing Europe's highest GDP region. To stimulate local economic growth, job creation, and innovation, the Region acts as a strategic investor by initiating and funding specific venture capital vehicles. Rather than investing directly from the government balance sheet, it delegates the management of its funds to specialized VC firms. The Region is highly regarded in the French tech ecosystem for providing a critical bridge of early-stage capital, strictly co-investing alongside private actors to de-risk rounds and attract further private capital to the territory.

What they look for

The Region's core thesis is to finance and support young, innovative small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) that have high growth potential and are capable of creating sustainable jobs within the Île-de-France territory. For its impact funds, the thesis is to accelerate the ecological and social transition by funding businesses in the Social and Solidarity Economy (ESS).
