What they do

Founded by Pedro Bandeira and Rui Falcão, REDangels operated as a highly structured and professionalized angel group where members invested collectively. It grew to include over 65 business angels from 11 countries, focusing on early-stage Portuguese startups by providing both capital and mentorship. The group operated on a democratic "one person, one vote" model. Following its success, the founders launched COREangels in 2019 to scale their approach globally, and REDangels is now closed to new investments, functioning solely to manage its legacy portfolio.

What they look for

When active, REDangels invested in the pre-seed and seed phases to help founders validate their ideas and accelerate their startups. Their goal was to ensure initial funding and support promoters in creating attractive businesses that were prepared for subsequent, larger rounds of venture capital investment. They looked for a relevant market opportunity, an entrepreneurial team with the will and know-how, and a clear, defensible competitive advantage.
