Overview

What they do
Founded in 2015 with backing from the UK's International Climate Finance, UN Environment, and the European Investment Bank, REPP was established to catalyze the growth of Sub-Saharan Africa's renewable energy sector. Managed by climate and impact fund manager Camco, REPP provides flexible capital to help developers overcome barriers to finance in underserved markets. Following the end of REPP 1's investment period in December 2023, Camco launched REPP 2, a $250 million private debt fund that reached its first close of $107 million in December 2024. REPP is highly regarded in the ecosystem, winning the FT/IFC Transformational Business Award for Impact Investing in 2021, and is known for its deep local market knowledge, catalytic capital, and strict adherence to gender-lens investing.

What they look for
REPP aims to accelerate Africa's transition to a sustainable development pathway and mitigate climate change by supporting small-scale, decentralized renewable energy projects. REPP 2 specifically focuses on building the "African grid of the future" by financing the late-stage development and construction of on- and off-grid renewable energy infrastructure.
