What they do

Established by the Swedish government in 2016, Saminvest was created to address funding gaps in the Swedish venture capital market. Instead of investing directly in startups, Saminvest operates as an anchor Limited Partner (LP), investing in privately managed venture capital funds and co-investing alongside business angels in regional incubator programs. They are highly distinctive for their strict mandates on sustainability and diversity-famously refusing to invest in funds managed by all-male General Partner (GP) teams. In 2024, Saminvest completed a multi-year mandate to divest 67 legacy direct startup holdings, fully transitioning into a pure indirect investment model.

Saminvest's mission is to foster the emergence of new private equity funds and angel investment programs in Sweden. They aim to enhance the availability of private capital in underfunded segments (early-stage tech, life sciences, and impact) by acting as a cornerstone investor that helps emerging managers reach their first close.
